I’m Thankful for:

My First grandchild (grandson)! (See Dylan Connor here)  :)  You can call me “Gramma” any time!! 

My *child*  having a child!  What a surreal experience! (Well, ok, Adam’s 26, so not technically a “child”, but still!)

For the love, health and friendship of my family and friends. 

For being another year closer to my Bachelors Degree (3 semesters to go!  Woo Hoo!).  After nearly 30 years of “a credit here and a credit there. . . Thank you, University of Maryland.  May we continue to see eye-to-eye for at least 17 more months! 

For being by default, 17 months closer to Law School :) 

For new professional opportunites with my firm, Sonosky Chambers Sachse Endreson & Perry, LLP, that I am very thankful for.  They are not just any group of lawyers.  They are wonderful, caring people doing a job they believe in, for people who need them and their expertise.  I’m thankful they let me be a part of that. 

For the self-discovery and introspection I’ve been going through.  With the help of my love, partner & husband; my wonderful children & daughter-in-law; my extended family and best friend, I’ve been working to make a better Me.  I expect to continue working on these self-improvements in 2009, turning life’s bumps and curves into positive experiences. 

I dont know any other way to describe my life other than to say I am blessed.   

Here’s to 2008, growing, learning, and loving; and

Here’s to 2009, may it be everything you want it to be!

They really mean it!  Not just the “tall stuff”, either.  LOL.

I held hope from the day Megan & Adam announced they were pregnant that “Nublet” (nka Dylan) would pick November 27 to touch our hearts (eventho I never really believed it would actually happen).  Thirty-one years ago, on November 27, 1977 my mom (Dylan’s paternal great-grandmother) passed away - and now, thanks to Dylan, November 27 can forevermore be a day of happy, joyful, thankful thoughts for me.  (Not to not remember my mom, just to put a different spin on the day).

Thanks, Dylan, you rock!

Oh!  Thanks to Megan & Adam, too!  You did good!  Very Very Good!

9-Days!

Just 9 days left until the official due date for Nublet!!  If he is anything like his parents, he will show up just a little earlier than requested (due), with a great big smile and “bells” on! 

The excitement is palpable!

Friday I had the extreme pleasure of going to American University (”AU” as it is referred to in the “biz”) School of Law to retrieve some material for work.

AU is where, one of these days, I hope to be able to go to law school.  :)Â
It was like letting a little kid loose in a candy store!

The Color of my Dream?

BLUE:

I was walking the 3/4 mile or so down K St from an appointment back to my office this morning.  Like so many people in DC, I was lost in my own thoughts and tapping away on my Blackberry . . . . not paying any particular attention to my surroundings…

Bad Idea!

Suddenly a kind stranger yelled at me, “Its a GREEN light!”

I looked up, noticing I had taken about 10 steps into a 5 (or 6?) lane roadway, (Connecticut Ave.) full of traffic, about to push forward and squash me like a bug.

Geez!

Needless to say, I backed up as fast as I could, yelled “Thanks” to the nice guy who just saved my life. . .(who was shaking his head, thinking what an idiot he just passed), and I decided maybe I should pay more attention to where I was walking.

Yep. 

Step away from the Blackberry.

Its your civic duty to vote. . .  it maintains the freedom that our forefathers fought for.

AND

If you don’t vote, you are not allowed to complain for the next 4 years.

So GO.  VOTE.  NOW.

My Soon-To-Be-Grandson, affectionately known as “Nublet”, is due in just 27 days!

Not that very many babies come when they are due. . . 

But, Hey. . . . 27 days is 27 days!

Saturday was spent at the office, attempting to reign in the overwhelming paper/box seige that has been plaguing my space for so long.

I must say, after 8 hours and 44 ounces of Diet Dr. Pepper, I think I moved ahead in the battle! 

If you look at my previous post, you will notice this same picture, only you can barely see the floor!  Just a tiny pathway on the left that I could get to my desk through.  Also, If you notice, the bookcase in the back on the left?  Its half empty now.  It used to be stuffed with red files, (the ones that fell.  Twice.)  that were too large for it (they were “legal” sized and the shelves are “letter” sized).  Now, there are books on the bookshelf!  How about that!!

I am not kidding myself.  I know there is still work to be done.  I have a cart with a bunch of files that need to be filed, and TWO (2) boxes (as opposed to 18) that need to be labeled and filed.  But considering the mess I started with?  I’m thinking I made good progress with the time I spent at the office!

NOW I can feel organized and some sense of control in my workspace.  Its SO nice now!  A work environment conducive to working instead of overwhelming disorganization.
